The founders of Hot Fox Pottery, a small family-run studio, have a passion for sharing their knowledge and expertise with others, which has led them to create a welcoming and inspiring space for people to explore the world of pottery. Their journey in the ceramics industry has given them a deep understanding of the importance of individual attention and guidance, which is reflected in their small class sizes, with a maximum of 7 students. This allows their experienced tutors to provide personalized support and help students achieve their full potential.
The 6-week hand-building courses, starting on Monday, 2 November 2026, and running until Saturday, 12 December 2026, are designed to cater to all levels of skill, from total beginners to those with more experience. Students will have the opportunity to learn the core techniques of coiling, pinch pots, and soft and hard slabs, as well as experiment with a range of glazes and decoration methods. For those with some pottery experience, the studio offers the chance to bring their own project ideas and work with the tutors to bring them to life. The courses include the use of clay, glazes, underglazes, and slips, with firing costs charged at £1 per 100g of finished work.
At Hot Fox Pottery, the emphasis is on creating a calm and comfortable environment, where students can feel at ease and focus on developing their skills. The studio's lovely loft space is equipped with everything needed to inspire creativity, including plenty of tea and chilled tunes. The weekly classes are divided into 6-week terms, and the studio has developed a Next Steps System, which allows students to progress their pottery skills and continue challenging themselves on future courses. An optional throwing session on the pottery wheel is also available for £40, providing an additional opportunity for students to explore different techniques.
