Fabrica (Brighton)

At Fabrica in Brighton, visitors will see a diverse range of artworks responding to the theme Unfold, from artists at various stages of their careers. The exhibition, which runs from Friday, 16 April 2027 to Monday, 10 May 2027, will feature selected works that explore the idea of unfolding, whether it's a personal, collective, deliberate, or unexpected process.

The theme Unfold is intentionally broad, allowing artists to interpret it in their own way, whether through the natural world, social or political change, or the unfolding qualities of time, movement, and narrative. Artists may consider moments of change, resilience, and renewal, or the ways identities, memories, and futures continue to unfold. The exhibition will showcase thoughtful, imaginative, and unexpected responses to the theme, across all forms of contemporary practice.

Behind the exhibition is the collaboration between Fabrica and Sussex Contemporary, who are delighted to announce their second UK-wide judged open call. Following the success of Resonance in 2026, they are inviting artists to submit work that explores process as much as outcome, and the ways people, places, materials, and experiences shift, connect, and transform. The organisers are particularly interested in the stories behind the work, including the research, experimentation, reflection, learning, and connections that shape an artist's practice.

The exhibition at Fabrica will bring ambitious contemporary practice to new audiences, providing a platform for artists to showcase their work and engage with visitors. The open call is an opportunity for artists to bring their work into conversation with other artists and with audiences, and to be part of a dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition.

For those interested in learning more or submitting their work, tickets and details are available with the button beside this article, for the exhibition taking place at Fabrica in Brighton from Friday, 16 April 2027 to Monday, 10 May 2027.
