The Hope & Ruin (Brighton)

Makthaverskan, a Swedish post-punk band from Gothenburg, will be performing at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton on Thursday, 3 December 2026. The band, formed in 2008, combines post-punk with elements of dream pop, jangle pop, gothic rock, and shoegaze, creating a unique sound. Led by vocalist Maja Milner, the band has built a reputation for their emotional intensity and striking vocals.

The band's origins date back to 2008 when guitarist Hugo Randulv and drummer Andreas 'Palle' Wettmark formed the group after the split of Broder Daniel. Vocalist Maja Milner and bassist Irma Krook soon joined, and the band released their self-titled debut album in 2009. Their music is characterised by Milner's sharp, intense delivery, which sits at the centre of their sound.

Makthaverskan have released five full-length albums, with their latest, Glass and Bones, coming out in April 2026. The band has toured Europe and the US, receiving praise for their live performances. Tickets are with the button beside the article.
