Brighton Welcomes Carne

Carne's debut single, J.U.M, released in April 2025, sets the tone for their music, with its raw, heavy sound and black-and-white video that follows vocalist and guitarist Carmen Mellino. The song, recorded at Brighton Electric Studios and produced by Jag Jago, is just the beginning of the band's journey, which has seen them play sold-out headline shows and festivals like Homegrown Festival and The Great Escape.

The band's sound is a testament to their influences, which range from US 90s alternative and grunge bands to semi-industrial rock, with comparisons to Nine Inch Nails and Vast. With Carmen's raw delivery and the band's heavy instrumentation, their live performances are not to be missed. From their early days playing at packed-out venues like Rossi Bar to their upcoming slot at the Isle of Wight Festival, Carne has proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the alternative rock scene.

As a Brighton-based band, Carne has been able to tap into the city's vibrant music circuit, with members Milo Hill, Emia Demir, and Joe McTaggart all known from the local scene. Their music reflects this, with a sound that is both deeply rooted in the 90s grunge revival and uniquely their own. With their second single, Polly's Desires, released in early 2026, Carne continues to push the boundaries of their sound, exploring new themes and ideas while remaining true to their roots.

On Thursday, 29 October 2026, Carne will take to the stage at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton, bringing their high-energy performance to the venue. The event, which starts at 7pm and is free entry for those 18 and over, promises a super secret spooky set to kick off the evening.
