Experience Hitman Sheela's Unique Sound

With their blend of post-rock and post-punk, Hitman Sheela is a band that defies easy categorisation, instead opting for a unique sound that layers accordion, glockenspiel, and muted drums with guitar and bass. At the helm of this Brighton-based four-piece is Katie Prescott, formerly the lead singer and guitarist of Nottingham band Swallowtail, who brings her distinctive vocals and instrumentation to the table. The rest of the band is comprised of Mimi on bass, Ethan on lead guitar, and Alex on drums, with some members also having ties to other Brighton bands such as SNM and Fire Escape.

Hitman Sheela's sound is characterised by a slow-building tension that breaks into loud, distorted crescendos, showcasing the band's ability to craft intricate, progressive songs. This approach has drawn comparisons to influential post-punk bands like Sonic Youth, and has already garnered attention on the local scene. Despite having only formed in recent months, Hitman Sheela has already played a number of notable shows, including Agenda Collective's Girls Night Out Fest and a Hidden Herd showcase at The Hope & Ruin.

The band's live performances have featured entirely unreleased material, leaving audiences eager to hear more. Backed by local promoters such as Platform B, the band is clearly on the rise, and their upcoming show at The Prince Albert is a great opportunity to experience their unique sound firsthand.
