Brighton Welcomes Jim Al-Khalili

What sparks your curiosity about the workings of the universe, and how do you think physics shapes our everyday experiences? For Jim Al-Khalili, a Theoretical physicist at the University of Surrey, the pursuit of understanding the intricacies of time and space has been a lifelong passion. With a distinguished career spanning multiple books, TV documentaries, and radio programs, Jim has established himself as one of the world's most celebrated physicists and science communicators.

On Sunday, 1 November 2026, Jim will take the audience at the Brighton Dome on a thrilling exploration of the universe's deepest mysteries, drawing from his groundbreaking new book *On Time*. From the strange quantum world to the vast fabric of space-time, Jim will guide the audience through complex concepts, making them accessible and engaging. He will tackle fundamental questions that have puzzled philosophers and scientists for centuries, such as why we can remember the past but not the future, and why the universe seems to move relentlessly forward.

Jim's work is not just about presenting complex ideas; it's also about challenging our perceptions and encouraging us to think critically about the world around us. As a prominent author and broadcaster, he has written 14 books on popular science and the history of science, which have been translated into twenty-six languages. His latest books, including *The Joy of Science* and *The World According to Physics*, have garnered significant attention, with the latter being shortlisted for the Royal Society Book Prize.

The event at the Brighton Dome will be a unique opportunity for the audience to engage with Jim's ideas and ask questions during the Q&A session.
