Ish took place 29 Oct 2026 at Electric Palace Hastings.
On Thursday, 29 October 2026, the Electric Palace Hastings in Hastings will host a screening of Ish, a film directed by Imran Perretta.
• The film tells the story of two 12-year-old best friends struggling with their relationship after a police stop and search, set against the backdrop of Luton's South Asian and Middle Eastern community. • Ish is an investigation of young masculinity, layered with a more sinister narrative of racial profiling and facial recognition tech. • The film was shot in black and white by cinematographer Jermaine Canute Edwards and is co-written by Enda Walsh, adding to its complex and authentic storytelling.
The screening of Ish is part of Teenage Flicks, supported by BFI FAN and National Lottery, and Rip it Up, a UK-wide celebration of youth culture on screen. Tickets and details for the event can be found with the button beside this article.
