Daphne's Flight Reunites

Daphne's Flight's 2023 album, Love Is the Weapon of Choice, marked a new chapter in the group's history, with Miranda Sykes joining the band on bass and vocals after Christine Collister's departure. This album, launched at Shrewsbury Festival, showcased the group's ability to evolve and create music that is both relatable and uplifting. With their reunion, fans can expect to hear a mix of old and new songs, all featuring the group's signature close harmonies and warm stage chemistry.

The group's origins date back to 1995, when five singer-songwriters, Christine Collister, Melanie Harrold, Julie Matthews, Helen Watson, and Chris While, first sang together at the Cambridge Folk Festival. This chance encounter led to the formation of Daphne's Flight, and their self-titled debut album was recorded in January 1996 on the Isle of Man. The album's release was followed by a major tour of England, cementing the group's reputation as a unique and exciting new force in folk music.

After a 21-year hiatus, Daphne's Flight reunited in 2017, releasing the critically acclaimed album Knows Time, Knows Change. This reunion marked a new era for the group, with subsequent releases, including the live album Daphne's Flight Live and the studio albums On Arrival and Love Is the Weapon of Choice. Throughout their career, Daphne's Flight has been praised for their democratic approach to music, with each member sharing lead vocals and introductions, creating a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.
