Brighton Museum & Art Gallery's curators are opening up their workplaces to the public, giving visitors a rare glimpse into the day-to-day tasks of cataloguing and caring for the city's cultural treasures. On Tuesday, 10 November 2026, at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, Dan Robertson, Curator of Local History & Archaeology, will be working on the postcard inventory, a collection of over 10,000 postcards, and visitors can drop in to see the process in action.

The Curator at Work series is a monthly event, taking place across various galleries, including the Central Gallery and the Prints & Drawings Gallery. Each session offers a unique insight into the curators' current projects and exhibitions, from the materials and meanings behind African jewellery to the stories behind the postcard collection.

For those interested in learning more about the collections and the people who care for them, this series is a great opportunity to meet the curators and gain a deeper understanding of the work that goes into preserving and showcasing Brighton's cultural heritage.
