The Verdict (Brighton)

What happens when two generations of jazz guitar excellence come together? On Saturday, 14 November 2026, at The Verdict in Brighton, Lorne Lofsky and Nigel Price will unite for a special quartet performance, featuring Lorne Lofsky on guitar, Nigel Price on guitar, Jeremy Brown on double bass, and Dave Ingamells on drums.

Lorne Lofsky, a Canadian jazz guitarist, was born in Toronto in 1954 and began his musical journey playing rock at school dances before discovering jazz after hearing Miles Davis's Kind of Blue. He went on to study music at York University in the 1970s, working in Toronto clubs and eventually meeting Oscar Peterson in 1980, who produced his debut album, It Could Happen to You.

Lofsky's playing style is known for its pianistic voicings and virtuosic skill, earning him a reputation as one of Canada's great musical treasures. He has toured and recorded with notable musicians such as Oscar Peterson, Joey DeFrancesco, and Chet Baker. Nigel Price, on the other hand, has had a successful career, including a stint with the UK funk group the James Taylor Quartet and being voted the best guitarist in the 2016 British Jazz Awards.
