Microscopic Marvels
Discover the hidden world of coastal soils through art and microscopy. Children aged 8-12 can join the After School Art Club for a unique creative experience.

Children will delve into the tiny ecosystems within different coastal soils, using microscopes to explore the landscape where land meets sea. They will learn how to examine soil samples and create artwork inspired by their discoveries, using a range of materials to express their findings.
What is the club about? The After School Art Club is a five-week programme that will allow children to experiment, make, and work together to create artwork inspired by the microscopic world of coastal soils.
Who is leading the club? The club is led by the team from Soil Craft, a community interest company with a passion for raising awareness about soil health and the soil ecosystem.
Why should children join? By joining the club, children will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of soil health, develop their artistic skills, and work with a team of experts from diverse backgrounds, including fine art, photography, and science education, at Hastings Contemporary in Hastings, from Thursday, 5 November 2026, until Thursday, 3 December 2026, with tickets and details available via the button beside this article.
