Aba Shanti Ful Sound System Comes To Town

Aba Shanti-I's debut record, Tear Down Babylon, released in 1993, marked the beginning of his journey as a sound system operator and dub producer. Born Joseph Smith in Hackney, London, to Antiguan parents, Aba Shanti-I grew up surrounded by his father's roots reggae sound system, Count Alan, which first introduced him to the genre.

Aba Shanti-I's sound system has been a resident at Notting Hill Carnival since 1993, and he has played across the UK and internationally, including in Belgium, France, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Portugal, and Spain. His music is characterised by its use of reverb, delays, and effects, drawing inspiration from artists such as Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, and Junior Delgado.
