Based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel and set 24 years before the events of _The Hunger Games_, _The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping_ explores the origins of the rebellion through the story of a young Haymitch Abernathy. Teenage District 12 citizen Haymitch is drawn to compete in the Second Quarter Quell, a brutal edition of the Capitol's annual killing games that doubles the number of tributes. Thrust into the Arena, he forms an unlikely alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner, and joins a group determined to resist the Capitol’s oppressive rule under President Snow. As the Games intensify, Haymitch must navigate a fight for survival while confronting the power structures that govern Panem. With the stakes higher than ever, his actions within the Arena set in motion a chain of events that will challenge the Capitol’s authority and help lay the foundations for a revolution.
