Suzy Eddie Izzard Performs Shakespeare’s Hamlet
Direct from playing to packed houses in North America, UK, Australia and New Zealand, Emmy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated performer Suzy Eddie Izzard will bring her acclaimed solo performance of Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Hamlet to the De La Warr Pavilion. Akin to the original performances of Hamlet, this production is performed on the blank canvas of a bare stage, letting Shakespeare’s words and pure storytelling take the spotlight. The King of Denmark is dead and Prince Hamlet is determined to take revenge, initiating a cascade of events that will destroy both family and state. Suzy Eddie Izzard will be portraying men, women, ghosts, scholars, tyrants, courtiers, lovers, fools and poets, embodying all 23 characters in the timeless tragedy. The production is currently touring the world and recently celebrated its 300th performance. Adapted by Mark Izzard and directed by Selina Cadell, all profits go to the De La Warr Pavilion. Recommended for ages 9 to 90 – true to Shakespeare’s text.
