Rye Lane is a romantic comedy that rekindles our love for the genre. The film's aesthetic is bold and colourful, with an 'artsy edginess' that confidently displays London's vibrant culture. The story follows two young people, Dom and Yas, who meet at a crossroads and discover each other's most intimate secrets. The film reveals eternal problems in a unique and extraordinary way, with a certain atmosphere of childishness that complements the bright locations and excellent editing. The ending is original and logical, filling the viewer with hope that rom-coms can follow a fresh plot. The director's approach of transporting the characters into the past to give advice to themselves brings them closer to the audience and makes their hearts beat faster. The film is a feel-good story that is a delight to watch, with energy and vividly multi-coloured shots.
