Robert Peston: The Political Thriller of the Future

For more than three decades, Robert Peston, political editor of ITV News, has been one of Britain’s most influential journalists. Now he turns his attention to a chilling question: what happens when political power collides with artificial intelligence? In this headline event, Peston discusses his gripping new thriller The Kill Switch, a story of governments, tech giants and Al systems locked in a battle for influence and control. Drawing on decades at the heart of Westminster, he explores power, democracy and the technologies reshaping our future. This event will be chaired by David Shriver, a senior communications and business leader with a wealth of experience across finance, technology and the arts. Currently Senior Advisor at global communications firm Kekst CNC, he previously held senior roles at Ocado, Carrefour and Credit Suisse First Boston. Named among the UK’s most influential PR professionals for seven consecutive years, David is also a voracious reader, lifelong lover of books and passionate champion of Folkestone’s literary life. A board member of Wimbledon BookFest and Creative Folkestone, he is a particularly enthusiastic supporter of Folkestone is a Library and its mission to bring books, stories and ideas to everyone. Folkestone Book Festival is our annual celebration of stories, ideas and conversation by the sea.
