New Collection - Barbara Burns

Barbara Burns' paintings often feature a sense of the buried or concealed ancient landscape, with rusty oranges, reds, and blacks emerging in places. Her work is inspired by her experiences exploring landscapes, including the dramatic west coast of Ireland, Snowdonia, and the Cornish and Jurassic Coasts. She also draws inspiration from her local surroundings, taking many walks on the South Downs. Burns' intuitive response in the studio involves working in oils with glazes, building her paintings over several months and selecting and eliminating forms and textures.
Barbara Burns completed a BA Fine Art degree at Brighton University in 1996 and has since sold her work at major London Art Fairs, including the Affordable Art Fair and the London Art Fair. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across the UK.
This current body of work is inspired by the relationship between the chalk of the South Downs and the granite of the Lizard Peninsula, two landscapes that Burns walks and knows well.
