Marquee Square Heroes: Brief Encounter

Do you remember chalk hearts melting on a wall… Following a sell-out 2025 show celebrating the 40th anniversary of Misplaced Childhood, Marquee Square Heroes return in 2026 with a brand-new production: Brief Encounter.

This immersive show takes audiences back to the defining years when Marillion rose to become one of the biggest rock bands in the world — a period that saw the release of _Real to Reel, Misplaced Childhood_, and _Brief Encounter_.

By the end of 1984, Marillion had conquered the UK, Europe and North America with the Fugazi tour. Demand for live recordings was so great that EMI released _Real to Reel_ — a live mini-album capturing the energy and emotion of a band on the brink of global success.

That success exploded with _Misplaced Childhood_ — a No.1 album featuring the timeless hits _Kayleigh, Lavender_ and _Heart of Lothian._ The follow-up EP _Brief Encounter_ marked the band’s growing international reach, featuring live recordings and fan favourites that defined Marillion’s classic era.

In “ Brief Encounter,” Marquee Square Heroes will recreate the shows and atmosphere of this magical mid-80s period — performing music from _Script_ from a _Jester's Tear_. _Fugazi, Real to Reel, Misplaced Childhood_ and _Brief Encounter_ in the spirit of Marillion’s original live sets. Expect the passion, precision and power that made this era of neo-progressive rock so unforgettable.

Join us for an evening of nostalgia, emotion and excellent musicianship — celebrating an era that continues to inspire fans across generations.
