Good Grief! brings together three warm, sharply observed short plays about aging, caregiving, memory, and the need to stay seen, heard, and connected. Blending live performances with custom audio and digital film projections, this showcase features local Brighton talent, alongside The Year Dot’s original screen cast members for a unique theatrical experience.

The Plays

ROSEBUD & MILORD (15 mins) A woman’s life, lived to the full, begins almost imperceptibly to slow down - witnessed only by her pets.
Written & Directed by Saskia Wesnigk-Wood | Performed by Sharon Drain, Lorraine Yu, Mark Tournoff and Catherine Gillison.

JACK’S BLANKET (15 mins) How does it feel when your body lets you down, but your mind is still as sharp as ever?
Written & Directed by Saskia Wesnigk-Wood | Performed by Julian McDowell.

THE YEAR DOT (45 mins) A stylised stage adaptation of Evalution Media’s multi-award-winning short film. Dot’s illness, isolation and dreams of a big end-of-life party lead to unexpected interactions, and new possibilities for connection.
Written & Directed by Eva Marie Wilshere | Performed by Sharon Drain and Lorraine Yu, featuring original film cast recording.

A collection of stories that will spark the thought: "I know someone just like that!"
