Explore, create and play your way around the gallery this October half-term, with activities in every space and an artist-led workshop in the studio.
Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition at the British Museum, the activities will take you back 900 years to explore the events that culminated in the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
Activities include:
- Design and make your own block prints on fabric inspired by images from the Bayeux Tapestry
- Create a collaborative woven artwork using fabric and yarn
- Draw a comic strip telling the story of your own personal triumph or small victory
- Collage your own strange beasts inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry’s borders
The activities are led by artists Chantelle Brett and Claire Griffiths.
Chantelle Brett is a Hastings-based illustrator inspired by nature, colour, and pattern. Her work reimagines lifestyle and everyday characters through a vibrant, maximalist lens.
Claire Griffiths is an artist and facilitator based in Sussex, with a First-class MA in Inclusive Arts Practice. Her work is rooted in social engagement, collaboration, and the belief that creativity is a vital tool for community connection and well-being.
