Award-winning singer and songwriter Emily Portman is going on tour in 2027, including a stop in Bexhill for an intimate gig. She has a passion for traditional songs and has been hailed as “one of the new British folk scene’s most beguiling presences”. Emily Portman will perform two sets with an interval. Her new album, Dominion of Spells, marks a bold new chapter in her songwriting, drawing on ballads and folktales, and weaving lived experience with rich mythic imagery. The album explores themes of parenthood, home, burnout, grief, and the transformative power of creativity. Emily’s live line-up features guitarist Louis Campbell and cellist Lucy Revis, creating a richly layered sound world with Emily’s luminous vocals, banjo, and piano at the centre.
