Dr Friday’s ‘MISTLETOE & CRIME’

Christmas is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. A season of goodwill, family gatherings, generosity and celebration. But for some, the pressures of Christmas can bring out the very worst in human behaviour. Why does a time associated with happiness and togetherness sometimes become a backdrop for murder? Behind the decorations, presents and festive traditions lies a darker side to Christmas. Family tensions, loneliness, financial pressures and unrealistic expectations can all take their toll. But can these pressures really push someone to kill, or do they simply expose something that was already there? Having spent years leading the Forensic Psychology course for the Criminology Department at the University of Greenwich, Dr Friday brings his distinctive blend of fascinating true crime cases, psychological insight and wickedly dark humour to MISTLETOE & CRIME, a show that is every bit as festive as it is fascinating. Through real cases of murders committed during Christmas, and sometimes because of it, he explores how stress, emotions and expectations can influence our thinking and behaviour. Along the way, discover the surprisingly sinister origins of familiar Christmas traditions and the forgotten stories behind some of our most cherished celebrations. Due to the themes explored and occasional strong language, this show is recommended for ages 15+.
