Discover, Celebrate, Grow

Discover, Celebrate, Grow is a programme celebrating the people, buildings and hidden histories of Eastbourne’s Devonshire Ward. The programme works with local people who don’t normally engage with heritage projects, alongside contemporary artists and local heritage groups. It has many threads, including individual events and workshops, creative partnerships, community engagement and storytelling. The programme culminates in a centrepiece celebratory exhibition at VOLT, drawing together the many activities and events of Discover, Celebrate, Grow together into one show. The exhibition opens with a community celebration event. Past events and outputs from Discover, Celebrate, Grow will be listed as the programme unfolds – photography, films, podcasts, residency outputs and writing from the Community Researchers. Discover, Celebrate, Grow helps to grow a thriving cultural ecology in Devonshire Ward and underpins the commitment to a local talent pipeline through the employment of a Heritage Trainee, and Community Researchers mapping out the Ward, uncovering stories of heritage assets.
