Cinecity 2026: University of Sussex 36 Hour Film Challenge

How long does it take to make a film? Weeks? Months? Years? What happens when you have 36 hours? That’s the challenge for students from the School of Media, Arts and Humanities at the University of Sussex. Launching the day before, students will be given a prop, a location and a mystery parameter and have 36 hours to make a four minute film. With up to £1000 worth of prize money, this is a 36-hour filmmaking challenge designed to test students’ ingenuity and endurance! The views, opinions and creative expressions presented as part of this competition are those of the participating students and do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions or positions of the University of Sussex, the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, their staff, partners or affiliates. Presented in partnership with Cinecity, the Brighton Film Festival.
