Celloman

Three cellos, boundless grooves, and music without borders. Cellist and composer Ivan Hussey presents The Jazz Sessions, the 10th album released under his acclaimed Celloman project. Joined by two fellow cellists, Ivan explores the warmth, depth and versatility of three cellos through a collection of original jazz compositions. From the cheeky Tango Through to the Grappelli-esque A Touch Tipsy and the beautifully melodic Dark Wine, the trio create an intimate and distinctive sound that has been described by All About Jazz as “a fine reminder of the emotional power of the cello.” The second half journeys through reimagined material from previous Celloman albums, with new arrangements for cello trio blending North African grooves, Flamenco melodies, chilled-out textures and haunting melodies. Since 2001, Celloman has released 10 albums as both an electric band and acoustic ensemble, performing worldwide across the UK, Serbia, Spain, Holland, France and Zanzibar, as well as appearing at major festivals including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Beautiful Days and Beyond Cello. Ivan Hussey is also one of the UK’s most versatile cellists, having performed on more than 300 albums with artists including Soul II Soul, Incognito, Mick Jagger, Jay-Z, Natacha Atlas, Lee “Scratch” Perry and Take That. His touring credits include Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, Liam Gallagher, The Lighthouse Family, Gabrielle, Smoke City, Classic Ibiza and the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra.
