CEILIDH at Shoreditch Town Hall is a brand new musical that invites you to step into the heart of one of Scotland's oldest and most beloved traditions. It’s a gathering of songs, stories and dances, all while sharing a dram or two along the way.
A CEILIDH [pronounced kay-lee] is a party with music, dancing, and storytelling
Experience Ceilidh - a foot-stomping, joyful, heart-warming party in a musical. The music starts, the caller speaks, we all listen. Told in the way every great Ceilidh works with dances on the floor and stories from your seat, the night sweeps you into over two hours of barnstorming reels, shared pints, and razor sharp wit, as an intimate family story unfolds across the hall. As old songs surface and tensions flare between the generations, one family confronts what gets passed down, what gets left behind, and why this gathering matters more than any before.
CEILIDH THE MUSICAL is direct from Alan Cumming’s inaugural season at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and fresh from a sold-out US run. Directed with trademark anarchic flair by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton (Oh, Mary!, Rocky Horror Broadway) and written by acclaimed Scottish duo Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie, CEILIDH is brought to life by a powerhouse company of 16 actor musicians.
Step through the doors of Shoreditch Town Hall, grab a drink, and leave the cold behind. Come alone, bring friends, or gather the family. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll dance. There's no experience required, so just show up as you are at CEILIDH THE MUSICAL.
