Karl Davis wakes in a wrecked hotel room with no memory of what has happened, where he is, or even who he is. When he discovers a body in the bathtub and two police officers knock at his door, it sets off a terrifying, explosive chain of events that sends Karl and hotel maid Molly on a blind descent into a world of confusion and conspiracy — told almost entirely from the protagonist's point of view.
