Age is a Stage offers a safe space where you can enjoy some precious time outside of the norm and experience the joy of just letting go – step through the door and let the spirit of the Theatre energise you!
Anyone aged over fifty is warmly welcomed to these fun filled weekly drama workshops that provide a creative outlet, encouraging playfulness and forging new connections between participants. Theatre skills can help improve memory and mood in later life, along with boosting self esteem and confidence, and of course, nothing beats the power of a good laugh with like minded people and you can guarantee laughter at these sessions!
Age is a Stage workshops are led by Chris Cresswell, who has been teaching and performing in theatre, cabaret, circus and film for over 40 years. He champions the vital role that comedy and theatre skills can play in developing and promoting healthy ageing, as well as combatting loneliness.
Participants have praised the workshops, with one saying ‘What a magical morning - I am 77 and maturity brings confidence I have nothing to lose! Thank you to you and your band of helpers who work behind the scenes to make this possible’ and another saying ‘I adore it. It makes me so happy!’
Chris Cresswell says ‘_The thing I enjoy most about what we do is when people tell me what a difference Age is a Stage has made to their lives. I love to inspire people to go beyond their normal._’
A participant also commented ‘_I think it’s like being a child again. I’ve never acted, never done anything like this before. But I come in here and leave feeling really happy._’
