**African Drumming Workshop
— Part of the Hidden Beach August Workshop Festival**
Feel the rhythm, join the circle, and discover the power of collective music-making. Our African Drumming Workshop is an energetic, hands-on experience led by an expert percussionist who opens each session with a vibrant live demonstration. The room fills with pulse, movement, and excitement — setting the tone for a day where everyone becomes part of the beat.
We provide enough djembes for every participant, creating an inclusive learning space where up to 30 people per session can explore traditional rhythms, call-and-response patterns, and ensemble playing. Whether it’s your first time drumming or you already love percussion, our facilitator guides everyone step-by-step towards a shared groove.
Who is it for?
Schools, youth groups, international students, families, and anyone looking for a lively creative workshop that brings people together. We can run up to 8 sessions in a day, making it ideal for timetabled activities or drop-in groups during the festival.
What to Expect
By the end, participants come together for a joyful mini-performance, showcasing the rhythms they’ve learned and the confidence they’ve built. It’s a celebratory moment — a burst of sound and unity that captures the spirit of Hidden Beach.
Part of a Bigger Festival
This workshop is just one of over 20 creative experiences taking place across Hastings from 1st–31st August, including dance, food, wellness, arts, storytelling, cultural sessions, and more. Our workshop festival invites the community — and visiting international students — to learn, connect, and explore global creativity throughout the month.
