The coming together of The Jant Band
The Awale Jant Band is the coming together of The Jant Band, lead by Senegalese singer Biram Seck and the group Awale which is the creation of French guitarist Thibaut Remy.
Together they formed a collective of musicians from Africa and Europe. Thibaut wrote a lot of the music which went with the words and stories written by Biram and the result is a mixture of influences from Afrobeat to soul, and jazz, with a real flavour of Senegal..
London-based band Awalé returns to Hastings for t he Hidden Beach Music & Wellness Festival for what will be an amazing show of Senegalese soul. Biram Seck’s soaring voice evokes messages of love and peace, underpinned by heavenly poly-rhythm groove explorations. Intense and spiritual Sabar Senegalese percussion and Afro-Latin drums conversations, weaving intricate guitar patterns and horn lines with catchy bass riffs. Like a spinning kaleidoscope of sounds, each song they perform travels on a varied musical journey, from afrobeat to soul, deep Afro-jazz to Latin. Awalé is on a mission to experience happiness together in these fractured times.
