Kawson Secka — Live at Stade Hall

Experience an electrifying live performance by Kawson Secka, a visionary Senegambian musician, composer and bandleader dedicated to celebrating and evolving West African musical heritage.

Born into a deeply musical family in Njawara, The Gambia, Kawson Secka’s artistry is rooted in ancestral rhythm, cultural storytelling and the vibrant traditions of Senegambian music. Influenced by sabar drumming, Mandinka melodies, Fula grooves and the distinctive sound of the xalam, his music bridges traditional West African forms with Afro jazz, Afrobeat and contemporary global sounds.

Kawson’s musical journey has taken him from West Africa to Europe and the UK, where he has studied, performed and collaborated across jazz, world music and experimental scenes. His education at leading institutions and his work with international projects and ensembles have shaped a unique sound that feels both culturally grounded and forward-looking.

As founder of Kawson Band, he has worked with artists and groups including Africa Express, Fofoulah and Awale Jant Band, and has performed at major festivals and venues across Europe. His album Melodic Memories pays tribute to his late father, Ebou Secka, honouring family legacy and the enduring power of West African musical traditions through modern production and expressive composition.

Live, Kawson Secka delivers high-energy, rhythm-driven performances powered by dynamic percussion, rich vocals, layered instrumentation and infectious groove. His shows invite both deep listening and joyful movement — blending musical virtuosity with warmth, storytelling and a strong sense of cultural connection.

This event at Stade Hall offers a rare opportunity to experience authentic West African–influenced live music in an intimate coastal setting. Expect powerful rhythms, uplifting energy and a celebration of heritage, community and global sound — a vibrant live music experience for audiences curious about rhythm, culture and the universal language of music.
