Inclusivity & Diversity

Holding space with care, respect and responsibility

Hidden Beach is a shared cultural space shaped by many people, stories, backgrounds and ways of being.

We are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, respectful and safe for everyone — including audiences, artists, facilitators, volunteers and staff.

This commitment shapes how we programme, how we host, and how we relate to one another.

Our approach

Hidden Beach works with a few simple principles:

  • We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, cultures and abilities.

  • We aim to notice and reduce barriers to participation wherever we can.

  • We centre care, respect and responsibility in how we hold shared spaces.

  • We do not accept discrimination, harassment or harm of any kind.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and able to participate fully.

Access and inclusion

  • We aim to make our spaces physically, socially and emotionally accessible.

  • Support is available for anyone who needs help navigating spaces or sessions.

  • Event listings include relevant access or content notes where appropriate.

If you have questions or needs around access, we welcome you to contact us in advance.

Behaviour and shared responsibility

Hidden Beach is held collectively.

We ask everyone taking part to:

  • Treat others with kindness and respect

  • Be mindful of different needs, boundaries and experiences

  • Respect personal space and consent

  • Support a calm, welcoming and attentive atmosphere

If something feels uncomfortable or unsafe, our team is here to listen and support.

Representation and voice

Hidden Beach actively supports:

  • Diverse artists, facilitators and cultural practitioners

  • Work that reflects a range of identities, traditions and experiences

  • Platforms for voices that are often underrepresented

We understand representation as an ongoing practice, not a box to tick.
