Humble Hut
Across the Tribute to the Diaspora weekend, Humble Hut (St Leonards) becomes a calm-to-kinetic hub: restorative wellness to reset, rhythm to learn, and dance to celebrate—all levels welcome, no partner needed. Mornings centre your nervous system with yoga, breathwork and mobility; midday builds musicality with rhythm foundations and body isolations; afternoons and evenings shift into joyful Afro-Latin movement that often ends as a mini-social.
Weekend flow (no fixed times):
Friday: Morning Reset (Gentle Yoga & Breathwork); Mobility Clinic for Dancers; Rhythm Basics (clave, call-and-response & groove); Afro-Samba Foundations; Cuban Salsa Footwork/Shines; Guided Stretch & Reflection Circle.
Saturday: Slow-Flow Yoga; Meditation & Grounding Breath (box/4-7-8); Mindful Mobility & Core; Community Drumming (family-friendly); Rumba-Inspired Bodywork & Styling; Afro-Fusion Dance Lab; Sound Bath & Deep Rest.
Sunday: Yin/Restorative Yoga; Chair Yoga & Posture for All Bodies; Afro-Samba Choreography (open level); Partner-Ready Salsa Fundamentals; Gentle Cooldown, Breathwork & Gratitude Close.
Wellness pop-ups (drop-in): herbal tea & hydration station, aromatherapy testers (scent-free options available), massage taster corner (short seated sessions), mindfulness prompts you can take into the rest of the day.
Our facilitators blend cultural context with practical technique—where steps come from, how rhythms interlock, and how to move safely. Sessions are layered: take the base pattern, then add styling when you’re ready. Accessibility: ground-level access, chairs for rests, earplugs on request, and seated/low-impact variations throughout.
What to bring: water, comfortable clothing, trainers/dance shoes, and a mat if you have one (limited mats available).
