Feel rhythm travel from hands to heart as seasoned drummers from Kasai Masai, Sarabanda and Mosaic Triangle guide a set of participatory workshops rooted in African, Caribbean and Latin diaspora traditions. We begin with body percussion and breathing to find a steady pulse, then move to drums and small instruments. You’ll learn relaxed technique for clear tones (bass, tone, slap), how to keep time without tension, and the call-and-response language—breaks, cues and dynamics—that turns a circle into a band.

Each session layers parts gradually: bell patterns and shakers set the clock, supporting drums build the engine, and lead voices add conversation and flair. You’ll rotate roles to feel how polyrhythms interlock, with options for beginners (foundations, counting, feel) and for experienced players (phrasing, micro-timing, improvisation). We close with a guided jam where the group lifts a groove from silence to celebration—music you can feel in shoulders, hips and feet.

All levels welcome. Seated and low-impact options available; this is about connection, not volume.
What to bring: water, comfortable clothing, and your own drum or small percussion if you have it (limited backline provided). Earplugs available on request.
