Sarabanda

Sarabanda bring the Havana heat to Tribute to the Diaspora, live at Printworks—a full-blooded celebration of Cuban rhythm, romance and reckless joy on the dancefloor. Expect golden-age son blended with modern salsa dura and timba: tumbling piano montunos, bright brass fanfares, tres and bass locking tight, and hand-to-hand percussion that lifts your feet before your mind catches up. This is music built for movement—sleek, precise, irresistibly human.

Rooted in the music of the casas de la trova and the clubs of Havana, Sarabanda honour the lineage—Arsenio to Buena Vista to contemporary timba—while keeping the energy current and crowd-focused. One song seduces with cha-cha-chá elegance; the next erupts into a carnival of call-and-response coros, sizzling bongó martillos and timbales breaks that light up the room. Melodies bloom, the clave never sleeps, and the band’s stagecraft pulls every corner of the venue into the groove.

For Tribute to the Diaspora, Sarabanda craft a set that salutes migration, memory and celebration: bolero moments that sway like warm night air; rumba-soaked passages that circle the drums; and big, brassy choruses that open the floor to absolute beginners and hard-core salseros alike. Come as you are—curious listener, seasoned dancer, or somewhere between—and let the beat teach you. No complicated steps required; the music will guide you.

Printworks’ industrial architecture becomes a living drum: palms clap, heels answer the congas, and a thousand small syncopations ripple through the crowd. Arrive ready to move, hydrate well, and wear shoes that forgive. Sarabanda turn rooms into parties, strangers into partners and choruses into community. This is Cuban music as living ritual—generous, exhilarating, impossible to stand still through. Tribute to the Diaspora presents Sarabanda: roots in tradition, eyes on the future, and the dancefloor wide open.
